Oscar Fernandes, the hon’ble minister gave a foolish statement and backtracked it later on when the industry raised a hue and cry. It is suggested that if he so sympathetic to the cause of the labour, he should resign from the ministry and go with the labourers so that he can be booked for instigating the crime.

What happened was that a couple of workers wanted a raise in salary, but they didn’t get it, and went on a rampage, vandalizing the premises. Then those workers were laid off.
When the CEO invited them to talk about it, they came by with iron bars, and beat up quite a few people, and killed the CEO.

So he was killed because he laid off workers who wrecked the factory, not explicitly because of greediness.
